7:30pm - 10:00pm
Royal Albert Hall

Goldsmiths Choral Union performs Carmina Burana in London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall. The choir will join four other choirs as part of 400 voices singing the 20th century’s most famous choral work. Carl Orff drew his 1936 masterpiece from a collection of Latin, German and medieval French texts. Although written by clerics, the texts celebrate the human pleasures of love, nature, and drinking while reminding us of our mercy at the wheel of fortune. Opening with the famous, striking ‘O Fortuna!’ and encompassing bouncy taverna rhythms and delicate, soaring arias, Carmina Burana is an absolute joy both to sing and listen to.
